As of mid-2024, the Malaysian government has ended the automatic conversion of foreign driving licenses to a Malaysian license. This is a significant change from the previous policy. All foreigners, regardless of their country of origin or existing driving experience, must now undergo the standard Malaysian driving school process to obtain a local license.

The New Process: A Step-by-Step Guide

The path to getting a Malaysian license now involves several mandatory steps:
